Twitter Celebrates Tenth Anniversary With 140-Character Thank You Note

On March 21st, 2006, Twitter entered the social world. Ten years later, it has over 300 million active users and went public to the tune of more than $10 billion. Granted this is $30 billion less than 2013 and many people still misunderstand how to use it, but the company hopes to change these preconceptions wth its new ad.

Twitter's two-and-a-half minute clip thanks its users around the world for defining what makes the social network unique.

Whether it's the livestream capability to break news, or the explosion of social activism through hashtags like #blacklivesmatter, or the spread of wacky viral videos and GIFs, Twitter celebrates all of these valuable assets to the network.

The 140-character limit is cheated a little bit by a longer note on Twitter's official blog, along with a slight emoji tweak to fit into the original tweet character count. Irregardless, their commitment to this length is strong, given the massive amount of change over the decade.

Here's to another 10 years, Twitter.
