First Draft of Clerks III Script Is Finished

Kevin Smith announced on Monday that he has completed a draft of Clerks III.

When he began the script in March, he said that the final film in the Clerks series would be the best film he'd ever make.

Now he's finished, he said: "At 137 pages, it plays like THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK of what's now become the Clerks Trilogy.

"And I am SO in love with it."

Given that he finished the draft in less than three months, this is certainly an achievement to be proud of.

Last month, in an AMA on Reddit, he revealed that:

"Dante. Randal. Jay. Silent Bob. They all return, naturally.

Elias. Becky. They're back as well.

So is Veronica.

I shared the first 84 pages and it passed muster with two very hard  audiences..."

Those hard audiences are Smith's wife and his friend Bryan Johnson, who originally played the character of Randal. So, things look positive for the final portion of the Clerks trilogy.

The first film was released almost 20 years ago, and is well remembered as a cult classic, especially for introducing the memorable characters Jay and Silent Bob (the latter played by Kevin Smith himself).
